First time this has happened to me
If you’re a reader of this Tumbr page then you are aware of my son’s medical short comings. You’re also aware of how much he means to me!
Well, today, in the check out line at Walgreens, Noah was sitting in the cart happily playing with his toy guitar. A little boy, probably around age 8, asked me “what’s wrong with his face?” and “why does he look so weird?”. I didn’t take offense to this because kids are naturally curious. I was about to explain the syndrome Noah had when his mother cut me off. She pulled him away saying “don’t be rude” “that’s not nice” and “don’t stare”. I think she made a bigger scene than her kid.
When I look at Noah I don’t see his disability, I see a beautiful little boy with big green eyes full of wonder. I am thankful he isn’t old enough to understand what the little boy was saying. I’m just scared for the day to come when he does.
I’m just wondering how I should react next time this happens?
